Ingredients of Ham and Garbanzo Bean Soup:

  • 4 leaves bay leaf
  • 1/4 cup parsley
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
  • 1/4 cup rendered pork fat pieces caramelized
  • 1-1/2 cup diced smoked ham
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 1 teaspoon granulated garlic powder
  • 6 cups water
  • 6 cups water for soaking
  • 12 ounces dried Garbanzo beans
  • 2 tablespoons saffron flowers not the stems
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 large limes

Method for "Ham and Garbanzo Bean Soup":

  1. Render the fat from some pork pieces pour the drippings aside for another recipe.
  2. Wash and look over the beans boil in 6 cups of water for 5-7 minutes. Turn off heat and soak for an hour. Drain.
