Ingredients of Irish Apple Cake:

  • For the puree:
  • 6 big green apples or 8 small green apples (Granny Smith)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 oz. butter
  • For the dough:
  • 2 oz. butter (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup self raising flour
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon milk (if the dough is too hard)

Method for "Irish Apple Cake":

  1. Puree ingredients:
  2. Wash
  3. Peel
  4. Arrange the apple upright on a cutting board and using a sharp knife cut in half directly to the core
  5. Slice each of these halves in half along the middle
  6. Use your knife to scoop out the seed portion of each apple slice
  7. Then slice apple quarter into half along the middle again,
  8. In a saucepan put the apple slices, vanilla and butter
  9. On low heat covered saucepan, cook it until boiled, stir well and continue cooking until puree is made (Reserve)

  19. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit
  20. In 12 by 9 inch diameter baking dish buttered and floured
